If you would like to deepen your knowledge of the spine and enjoy didactic lectures in combination with practical exercises and interactive case discussions on the respective topics in a relaxed atmosphere, we would like to cordially invite you to our Spine Starter Course, Module II, of the Spine Working Group of OTC Germany. The course addresses degenerative changes of the spine, spondylodiscitis, and spinal metastases. In addition, a special lecture on spinal cord injuries and paraplegia will be offered, highlighting practice‑relevant aspects of acute care and rehabilitation. This event is aimed at all those who wish to engage more intensively with our favorite field, spinal surgery, and really get started, both in preparation for their specialist examination and beyond. In this context, we are also interested in your opinion on the topic “Life – Spine – Balance. The balancing act between family and career”, which we would like to discuss with you. The educational objectives of the course are, on the one hand, to provide clear algorithms for a standardized approach to the respective conditions, to sharpen the radiological view, and to present the possible conservative and surgical treatment options. On the other hand, practical exercises with experienced instructors will be used to train anatomical and biomechanical understanding as well as surgical skills. The case discussions in small groups, repeatedly perceived as highlights by participants, round off the course. You are very welcome to bring your own cases. We hope that this format will spark your interest and we look forward to seeing you and to an exchange of ideas – regardless of whether your background is in trauma surgery, orthopedics, or neurosurgery.
